The Open dialog box provides controls for locating and opening a DICOMDIR file that contains the series.
The Open DICOMDIR dialog box
The Open DICOMDIR dialog box allows the user to preview, select and open one or more series of the DICOMDIR.
If you want to select multiple series, hold down the <Ctrl> key, and click the series.
In the upper part of this dialog box, the DICOMDIR's contents are displayed in a tree form.
The first nodes of this control are the patient items. Under each one of the patient node the user can inspect the content nodes of the studies.
On the lower part of this dialog, there is a list of the series for the selected study of the DICOMDIR tree.
This list is updated every time the user selects an item on the tree. If there is a selected series, the preview icon displays the first image of this series.
Show Image Preview
If the "Show Image Preview" check box is checked, a preview icon of the first file of the series is displayed. Use the "Image number" controls to preview the image of another file of the series.
The user can uncheck the "Show Image Preview" check box if the files are too large, and the program needs a lot of time to create the preview icon.
Calculate memory required
The program can calculate the memory requirement of the selected series and if the memory is not enough the "Memory required" value is blinking.
The calculation is approximate because the program cannot evaluate the swap file size. For that reason, the program can open a selected series even though the memory required is slightly larger than the available memory.
Open Series button
This button is enabled when the user has selected a series in the list control.
Press the button "Open Series" to open the selected series. This button does not close the dialog box, thus the user can select and open additional series.
Preview Series button
This button is enabled when the user has selected a series in the list control.
Press this button to preview the files and their header of the selected series.
Copy to folder
This button is enabled when the user has selected a series in the list control.
Press this button to copy the files of the selected series in another folder.
Done
This button closes the dialog box.

The Preview Series dialog box lets the user to preview the files of the series, both images and headers.
Ust the "Frame" selection controls to select another file of the series for previewing.
